Finding Your Way Around
👤

Who this is for: self-serve plans (Free, Starter, Pro, Enterprise). If you bought a Cleanlist AppSumo lifetime deal, your features, limits, and pricing are different. See the AppSumo documentation instead. Support agent: confirm whether the user is self-serve or AppSumo before giving plan-specific advice.

TL;DR: Cleanlist has no top bar. The left sidebar holds your pages (favorites and pinned rows), your Clu chats, and at the bottom your account menu, the Settings gear, your credit balance with Add, Chat history, What's new and Help and support. Press ⌘K (Ctrl+K) for the command palette and ⌘J (Ctrl+J) for Clu. You can rearrange the sidebar; the layout is yours, one per organization.

Finding your way around Cleanlist

Cleanlist runs in your browser at app.cleanlist.ai (opens in a new tab) and works on desktop screens only. Every page opens from the left sidebar, and the page itself sits in a rounded panel beside it. When you open Clu next to a page, its chat dock opens on the left, between the sidebar and the page.

The sidebar, top to bottom

  1. Header: the Cleanlist logo (takes you to Home) and Hide sidebar, which folds the sidebar down to icons. Folded, the button reads Show sidebar.
  2. Search or ask Clu (⌘K): opens the command palette.
  3. Favorites: a grid of tiles. By default: Find People, Lead Lists, Inbox, Sequences, Tasks, Agents.
  4. Pinned: rows below the tiles. By default: Home, People, Companies, Reports, Integrations, then any agent you mark as a favorite. The + after the rows (Add to sidebar) brings back a page you removed.
  5. Chats: New chat, the page you are on (as a tab, when nothing pinned covers it), then your 8 most recent chats with Clu and with your agents. A chat that is still working shows a spinner. Clear hides the tabs; it doesn't delete any chat.
  6. Footer: your account control (avatar, your name and the organization name), the Settings gear, and your credit balance ("N credits") with a gauge and Add, which opens Settings → Plans & billing.
  7. Bottom bar: Chat history (every Clu chat, on the full-screen Clu page), your team's presence (who is online), What's new (the gift box) and Help and support (live chat with the Cleanlist team; a red dot means you have an unread reply).

A locked page still opens: you see an upgrade card that names the plan you need, with Compare all plans.

Customize the sidebar

  • Open an item's menu: right-click a tile or row, click its ..., or focus it and press the Menu key or Shift+F10. Depending on the item you get Move to favorites or Move to pinned, Unpin, Open agent (agents), Rename (chats, also F2), Pin and Close (chat tabs). Every menu ends with Add to sidebar (a list of pages you removed) and Reset sidebar (back to the default layout).
  • Drag and drop: reorder tiles and rows, move an item between favorites and pinned, or drag a chat tab up to pin it.
  • Fold it: Hide sidebar shrinks it to icons; your credit balance becomes a small ring.

Your layout is saved to your user account, one layout per organization. Teammates don't see your changes. The sidebar has no folders; lead list folders live on the Lead Lists page.

Command palette

Press ⌘K (Ctrl+K) or click Search or ask Clu. The box reads "Type a command or search…". Results come in groups:

GroupWhat you can do
CluOpen Clu when the box is empty; Ask Clu with what you typed. Pressing Enter on any text asks Clu.
This listOnly on a lead list: Import leads, Enrich leads, Find email, Find phone, Smart agents (the list's skills), Export CSV. Each opens the list's Actions drawer at that step.
IntegrationsAfter you type 2 or more characters: HubSpot, Salesforce, Lemlist, Slack, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Airtable, Fathom, Notion. Picking one opens the Integrations page at that card.
NavigateEvery sidebar page, plus Browser extension. Common synonyms work, for example "campaigns" finds Sequences, "analytics" finds Reports, "contacts" finds People.
PreferencesToggle dark/light mode, API keys, Notifications, Account settings, Organization settings, Team, Email accounts (sequence senders), Plans & billing, Keyboard shortcuts, Logout
HelpHelp center (live chat) and Documentation (these docs)

The palette doesn't search the names of your lists, people or companies. Use Lead Lists, People or Companies for that.

Account menu

Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar:

  • Switch organization: shown when you belong to 2 or more organizations. Pick one to switch. See Organizations and teams.
  • Invitations: an invitation to another workspace shows its name with Join. A workspace that matches your email domain may show Request to join, then "Pending approval".
  • Extension: opens Integrations → Browser Extension to install the Chrome extension.
  • Resources: these docs.
  • Book a Call and Give Feedback: book time with the Cleanlist team.
  • Logout.

Account settings, appearance, API keys and Plans & billing are no longer in this menu. They live in Settings.

What's new

The gift box in the bottom bar shakes when there's news. Click it to open a card above the footer with a short muted video (click it for the full video with sound), the steps to try it, and a button. Current entries: Meet Clu, your GTM agent (Try Clu) and Email, LinkedIn and calls in one sequence (Open Sequences). Dismiss the card with its X.

Team presence

Between Chat history and What's new, up to 3 teammate avatars show with a green (online) or grey (offline) dot and "N online". Larger teams collapse into a count. Hover for names and status. It's hidden when you are the only member of the workspace.

Getting help

  • Help and support (bottom bar): live chat with the Cleanlist team.
  • Ask Clu for a person and it opens the same live chat.
  • Email support@cleanlist.ai.

Desktop only

Below 1,024 pixels wide (phones, tablets and narrow windows) the app is replaced by Open Cleanlist on Desktop: "Cleanlist is a desktop-only platform built for managing leads, enrichment, and outreach." Sign-up and sign-in pages still work on a phone, so you can create your account there and continue on a computer. If you see this screen on a computer, make the browser window wider.
