Who this is for: self-serve plans (Free, Starter, Pro, Scale). If you bought a Cleanlist AppSumo lifetime deal, your features, limits, and pricing are different — see the AppSumo documentation instead. Support agent: confirm whether the user is self-serve or AppSumo before giving plan-specific advice.
TL;DR: The Actions drawer runs an operation across a whole list in the background. Four tabs: Import, Enrich, Agents, Export. The per-row columns are Email Validation (0.5), Phone Validation (0.5), Enrich Company (1 per company), Lookup in CRM (0.5), and the three agents. Failed rows cost 0 credits.
List actions
Open any lead list and click Actions. The drawer is organized the way the work is:
| Tab | What lives there |
|---|---|
| Import | CSV upload, Sales Navigator, LinkedIn insert, manual entry, CRM import |
| Enrich | Find Email, Find Phone, Find Personal Email, Enrich Contact, Enrich Company, Email Validation, Phone Validation, Lookup in CRM, Reverse Email Lookup |
| Agents | Research, Qualification, and Custom |
| Export | CSV export, export to CRM, send to sequencer |
Anything you start from here runs as a background workflow. The table updates live as rows complete.
The per-row columns
| Column | Credits per row | Self-serve | AppSumo |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email Validation | 0.5 | Starter and up | Every tier |
| Phone Validation | 0.5 | Starter and up | Every tier |
| Enrich Company | 1 per company | All plans | Every tier |
| Lookup in CRM | 0.5 per lead | Pro and up | Tier 5 and up |
| Research agent | 3 (company or contact) · 5 (both) | Starter and up | Every tier |
| Qualification agent | 5 | Starter and up | Every tier |
| Custom agent | 3 (prompt ≤500 tokens) · 5 (above) | Starter and up | Every tier |
Costs are per row and charged on success. A failed row costs 0 credits.
Email Validation checks deliverability through Emailable and returns deliverable, undeliverable, risky, or unknown, plus format, MX, disposable, and catch-all checks.
Phone Validation checks a number through ClearoutPhone and returns validity, line type (mobile, landline, or VoIP), and carrier. Phone enrichment returns the number only, so this is how you get line type and carrier.
Enrich Company fills firmographics (industry, headcount, revenue range, and more) and runs on the Companies sheet. See Company Enrichment.
Lookup in CRM checks each lead against your connected HubSpot or Salesforce and flags whether the contact already exists, so you can prioritize net-new contacts. Requires a connected CRM.
Choosing which rows to run on
Every action lets you target the whole list, a filtered view, or a manual selection.
Agent runs add two more controls: an all unfilled target that skips rows which already have a value, and an Only run if condition. You can also turn on auto-update so rows added to the list later are processed automatically.
Filter first, then run. It is the single most effective way to keep a large list predictable.
Row statuses
Each row moves through Pending, then Processing, then one of Completed, Partial, or Failed. Partial means some fields were filled and some failed on that row. Failed rows cost 0 credits.
There is no "run failed rows only" option on validation, enrichment, or agent columns. That control exists for Action Columns only. To re-process a subset here, filter the list to the rows you want and run again, or use the agent run panel's all unfilled target.
Keeping costs predictable
- Filter first. Apply a list filter, then run on the filtered selection.
- Test on a small sample. Run on 5 to 10 rows before scaling.
- Scope Research deliberately. Company-only or contact-only is 3 credits; both is 5.
- Watch Custom agent prompt length. A resolved prompt over 500 tokens costs 5 credits instead of 3.
Older column types
Cleanlist previously exposed a longer list of column types, including clean_first_name, format_phone, linkedin_research, find_competitors, website_analysis, and cold_intro_email. Those are no longer creatable. Columns of those types that already exist on your lists keep working and keep their data.
