Using Cleanlist Copilot
👤

Who this is for: self-serve plans (Free, Starter, Pro, Scale). If you bought a Cleanlist AppSumo lifetime deal, Copilot is not part of your deal — see the AppSumo documentation. Support agent: confirm whether the user is self-serve or AppSumo before giving plan-specific advice.

TL;DR: Cleanlist Copilot (Starter and above) is the in-app assistant for importing, enriching, running agents, and quick lookups, in plain language. It has three modes (list, CSV upload, one-off) and always shows a confirmation card with the exact cost before spending any credits.

Using Cleanlist Copilot

Cleanlist Copilot is the fastest way to work leads in Cleanlist. Instead of clicking through menus, you describe what you want and Copilot does the work.

Copilot is available on Starter and above. It is not available on AppSumo plans (unless you also subscribe to a paid Cleanlist plan) — see the AppSumo docs. Free plan accounts get 5 People Search preview searches before Copilot prompts an upgrade.

Open Copilot with Cmd+J (Ctrl+J on Windows). Cmd+K opens the command palette instead.

Walkthrough: import leads from a people search

Open Copilot and use /prospect

Type /prospect in the Copilot composer (or just describe who you're looking for) to start a people search. Copilot will ask for filters — title, company, location, industry, and so on.

Review results

Copilot shows a preview of matching leads. You can refine ("only SaaS companies with more than 50 employees") before importing.

Confirm the import card

When you're ready, Copilot shows a confirmation card with the exact credit cost (importing is free, max 2,500 leads per list), your current balance, and a 10-minute window to confirm or cancel.

Check your list

Imported leads land in the list you have open, or a new list if you started without one.

Walkthrough: upload a CSV

Attach your file

Tap the paperclip icon in the Copilot composer and select your CSV or XLSX file.

Confirm column mapping

Copilot auto-maps your columns to Cleanlist fields (name, email, company, LinkedIn URL, and so on). Review the mapping and correct any mismatches.

Create or append

Tell Copilot whether to create a new list or append to an existing one. Uploading a CSV is free — no credits are charged for the upload itself.

Walkthrough: enrich a list

Open a list and open Copilot

Switch to the list you want to enrich. Open Copilot — it picks up the list context automatically.

Ask Copilot to enrich (or use /enrich)

Say "enrich this list for email" or type /enrich. Copilot will ask which enrichment type you want:

TypeCreditsNotes
Email only1/leadPay-for-results — 0 on miss
Phone only10/leadPay-for-results
Full (email + phone)Up to 11/lead1 + 10, each only if found

Confirm the card

Copilot shows the exact estimated cost, your balance, and a 10-minute window. Enrichment runs in the background and Copilot notifies you when it's done.

Walkthrough: run an agent on a list

Open a list and open Copilot

Open the list you want to work on, then open Copilot.

Ask Copilot to run an agent (or use /agents)

Say "run Research on these leads" or type /agents. Copilot can run the three built-in agents plus any saved Custom Agents your org has.

Choose scope (Research only)

  • Company (3 credits) — firmographics, positioning, signals
  • Contact (3 credits) — background on the individual
  • Both (5 credits) — company and contact together

Confirm the card

Copilot shows the total cost for the selected leads, your balance, and a 10-minute window. Results stream in lead by lead.

You can also run agents directly from the Agents tab of the Actions drawer without going through Copilot — same engine, same credits. See Using Cleanlist agents.

Walkthrough: one-off tasks (no list needed)

Open Copilot without a list active to access free or low-cost one-off actions.

Free inline validation

Ask Copilot to validate an email or phone number. Validation in Copilot is free — it does not consume credits.

Find a person

Ask "find [Name] at [Company]". The confirmation card shows the cost (up to 1.5 credits per person, free on a cache hit) before running. Results land in an auto-created "Quick Actions: …" list.

Reverse email lookup

Ask "who owns [email@example.com]?". The confirmation card shows the cost (2 credits per email, charged whether or not it resolves). Results land in an auto-created "Quick Actions: …" list.

The confirmation card

Every action that spends credits shows a confirmation card before anything runs, with:

  • Exact credit cost for the action
  • Your current credit balance
  • A 10-minute window to confirm or cancel

You must confirm before credits are spent. Copilot never claims an action is complete before you approve it.
